Active Magnetic Bearings deployment process 

1. Initial evaluation & feasibility study 

The customer cooperation project starts with an initial assessment. At this stage, we verify with our customers the project scope and what kind of business model is needed including possible involvement of third parties. Typically, SpinDrive starts with a feasibility study. The feasibility study report illustrates how much space the designed AMBs occupy in customer system.

2. Detailed design 

After a full assessment, our experts will produce the CAD models, manufacturing drawings, rotor dynamics analysis, controllability reports, FEM, and control models. After the detailed design, the AMB parts are manufacturing ready.

3. AMB system parts manufacturing and supply 

At this stage, the AMB parts are manufactured. While the Magma® magnetic bearing controller is a standard product, the active parts in the electrical machine-like actuators and sensors are always project specific. 

With SpinDrive flexible business model, our clients can select which parts of the deliverables they want to either coordinate in house, or trust to SpinDrive’s supply chain. This enables optimized costs and faster time-to-market.

4. AMB system commissioning 

After the AMB system is assembled and installed, SpinDrive engineers will conduct the AMB system commissioning. It starts with on-site commissioning and can be supported afterwards with remote commissioning.
