Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment for Häme has awarded 50 000 € grant for development actions of SpinDrive. The grant covers 50% of the total development costs and it is awarded from the European Regional Development Fund.

Active Magnetic Bearings (AMB) enable higher rotational speeds of electrical machines allowing direct attachment of actuator such as compressor wheel to the shaft end. AMBs are controlled by control electronics including power electronics for power supply and control electronics for controlling the machine. Power electronics and the required displacement sensors are traditionally the most expensive components of the product. A prototype of a cost-effective power electronics is developed in the past at LUT University. The current development project is towards productization of the functional power electronics for reducing costs and implementing more advanced features to support the fast-international growth and serial product sales of SpinDrive.
