Condition monitoring industry has been booming for some time already. Typical approach is to have a fleet of sensors connected to hub that sends the measured data further for processing. Evidently, that is a strong method of having the overall picture on the factory floor.

When it comes to the operational condition of a single machine, you must have direct access to the rotating shaft to cut the weed from the data. SpinDrive Active Magnetic Bearings (AMBs) have a built-in feature of collecting position data directly from the rotating part of the motor. The rotor position data accuracy is in micrometres with ultimate sampling frequency. Only the sky is the limit for using the data for performance optimization, efficiency optimization, maintenance as need basis, extended operational range, predicting sudden failures, etc.
